Just a note to say:
I have just posted the May newsletter and now we are only two and a half weeks away from the next meeting. If you scroll down the blog you can see the newsletters from the months since we started. I've somehow inserted a blank page after the last newsletter so keep scrolling: the other newsletters are there. As well as the content in the newsletter, there is a lot of news out there that relates to head and neck cancer. Google Alert will aggregate stories from newspapers all over the world. Some of it is of minimal interest to us but sometimes there are gems: too much for our newsletter but worthy of publishing here. I am particularly interested in immunotherapy drugs like Keytruda which are often in the news. I don't know if people fully realise that cancer cells can escape our immune cells and that our body needs ammunition (like an immunotherapy treatment) to help our immune cells switch cancer cells off. It has just clicked for me - it sounds so simple and hopeful. I know that it is really complex and will take years but scientists are working hard on it. One day patients might not have to go through the brutal treatments that we have suffered.
Please feel free comment on the blog. It would be great to know that people just might be reading it.
Maureen
